We have sent our Welcome Packs to schools in five countries of the world and two schools inside Russia. Now we are waiting for the response of our pen-pals whether they like the pack's content or not. What did we decide to sent?  We thought it should be something Russian and not very heavy. So we sent a lotto with the pictures of Russian symbols on one side and short notes on the opposite side, an 8 March postcard, our 'united' letter, a local newspaper, with our notes in English on it, and a reproduction of the paintings by Russian artists such as Surikov. The lotto we designed ourselves, selected the pictures, wrote the notes to every symbol. Our computer teache ... Read more »

Our next partner is Campbellton Middle School and the team of students of 6-7 grade, the teacher Ryan MacDougall. The school is in Campbellton, N.B., Canada.

The students write: ‘We are a small city, but the nearest METROPOLIS would be either Montreal (8 hours southwest) or Halifax (6 hours south).’ The area of the community is 1,630 km2 and the population  - 7,385. People come to visit the area for fishing, canoeing the Restigouche River, watching the Campbellton Tigers, Junior "A” hockey team play or skiing/snowboarding/climbing Sugarloaf Mountain. We enjoyed reading one more Classroom Survey. Now it is from old town Kopyl, Minskaya oblast, Belarus.

The students of Kopyl Gymnasium write that their town is pretty small but very old. It was first mentioned in 1274. Kopyl is 120 km from Minsk, the capital of Belarus. The town is situated in an extremely picturesque place. It stands on the hills and it is surrounded by a small river. There are also 3 lakes and, of course, forests everywhere! There are 368 students in Sherrard Middle school, about 24 students in class.

After choosing the topic of our group project we will exchage project tasks with other schools participants. Every school group will work over its own project and will do some tasks for other 11 schools in 7 countries. Then we will create one big report of our Computer Chonichles Middle School team out of  the reports  made by every school-participant. You may have a look at the report made by the students of Koltsovo school #21 (Biotechnological lyceum #21) in 2007. It was devoted to the similarities and differences of some schools of the world.
