Next classroom survey came from our close
neighbors Gor’kovskoe secondary school №1, Omsk region. In school there
are 315 students, about 25-27 students in each class.
EFL teacher Tatyana wrote that the first school memory in their region dates back to 1897. It was called a schoolhouse. In
1910-1911 the schoolhouse was reorganized in a ministry school. In 1917
there were 30 pupils in the school. The school year started in November
and finished in April. In 1925 there were already 74 pupils in the school. In 1964 a new three storied school was built. In 1976 Gor’kovskoe secondary school was reorganized in two schools: secondary school №1 and secondary school №2.
In 2008 the school collective won one million grant and bought new computers and sports equipment. Now the school is a base ICT school for Gor’kovskoe region, providing distance learning of disabled children and teaching students in accordance with new educational standards. The most popular school subjects are Maths, English, PE, History, Russian, Chemistry. Students have the possibilities to go in for various sports: basketball, volleyball, hockey, football, and boxing. Various activities such as camping, sports competitions, school parties, discos are held at school. Teenagers there are like everywhere enjoy listening to music (club music, "Ranetki”, Rammstein, "Paints”, "Fabrique”), playing video and computer games (Counter Strike, GTA, Call of Duty, Sims, Mafia), surfing the Net. Students read mostly Russian classical writers such as A.S. Pushkin, M.Y. Lermontov, S.Yesenin, and E.Vel’Mont, V.Golovachyov . Their favourite TV programs are Maslyakov's Club of Merry and Smart, Our Russia, Comedy Club, Comedy Women, Hunting and Fishing, Gameland, News, Sports programs and cartoons. Teenagers prefer homemade food: manty, dumplings (vareniki), cutlets and potatoes, sandwiches, fried chicken, different salads. Healthy food vs fast food. That is great!!

Gor’kovskoe was founded in 1776 by peasants from the Urals and Volga region after the defeat of the revolt of Pugachev. It was called Ikonnikovo. In 1936, after the death of Maxim Gorki (a famous Russian writer), it was renamed in Gor’kovskoe. Now about 5650 live in Gor'kovskoe. It is a rural region, so there is no any industries. The occupations are farming, bakery.
The main attractions of the area are beautiful nature and fresh air, relatives, fishing as the region stands on the Irtysh, one of the biggest Russian rivers.
